Stefnan
Íkon ehf. var stofnað 1988 af nokkrum áhugasömum tölvumönnum. Aðaleigandi fyrirtækisins Ólafur Garðarsson hefur stundað tölvuþjónustu og forritun á Íslandi og víðar síðan 1985. Markmiðið er að veita bestu þjónustu sem völ er á á sviði hugbúnaðarþróunar og kerfisþjónustu.

Sagan
Reynslan spannar öll helstu stýrikerfin (Windows, Macintosh og Unix/Linux). Við byrjuðum í Macintosh heiminum með námskeið, forritun og fleira en starfsemin færðist meira og meira yfir í Windows stýrikerfin með árunum. Síðustu ár höfum við unnið talsvert með Linux stýrikerfi, sérstaklega í vefhýsingarþjónustunni undir vörumerkinu EDAL.NET. Sérgrein okkar er gagnagrunnar eins og Oracle en við vinnum einnig með MS-SQL, MySql grunna og aðra gagnagrunna. Kerfin sem hafa verið hönnuð á vegum Íkon eru margvísleg og í nánast öllum atvinnugreinum íslensks atvinnulífs en einnig fyrir aðila í BNA, Englandi og á Spáni.

Framundan
2005 var fjárfest í húsnæði fyrir starfsemina og hafið samstarf við Leiðir ehf um verkefni. Þeir hafa einnig aðstöðu í nýja húsnæðinu. Vefhýsingin undir merkinu edal.net hófst 2003 og hefur smám saman undið upp á sig og er orðin mikilvægur þáttur í rekstrinum. Í febrúar 2006 byrjuðum við samstarf við nýja kerfisveitu í Bandaríkjunum um hýsingu vefþjóna okkar og viðskiptavinir okkar eru smám saman að flytja vefi sína yfir á nýju þjónustuna. Núverandi stefna er að auka veg vefhýsingarinnar í rekstrinum og auka með því fjárhagslega stöðugleika félagsins. Við munum þó halda áfram að stækka samhliða hin tvö sviðin sem við byggjum á, þ.e. kerfisþjónustuna og hugbúnaðarþróunina. Þessi svið styðja hvort annað á margvsíslegan máta og saman eru þau þær stoðir sem félagið byggir á.
